I’m getting those flashbacks again.
The last time I found a job was during the December of 2006.
Four months after I moved back to Shanghai for him. After a tormenting 4 months of acute depression and insecurity, a headhunter found me. I clinch the deal with ease and success and started working in my previous company.
I remember him feeling so happy for me. Finding a job would relieve some extend of guilt. Guilt of making me uprooting again, giving up my position with Coca Cola in Singapore and move back to Shanghai once again. For love.
“I’m so happy for you!” he exclaimed, holding me in his embrace in our colonial Shanghainese lane house.
Suddenly, that was already 3 years ago.
This scene takes place once again. But this time without him, in my Singapore HDB living room.
My first day of work was 9 Jan 07. This time, I nearly started on the 9th again. But due to some admin issues, I’ll start 2 days later.
Flashbacks. Déjà vu.
They can be painful.
